Observation details
We found the bird frequentring Coyote Bush near bend in the boardwalk where this species has been known to occur (35.34413, -120.8389). This bird was stocky and larger than other nearby Savannah Sparrows and was mostly brown above with brown crown, lores and eye-line, only a hint of a pale supercilium which lacked any yellow we could see and had a large, stout bill with convex culmen, brown auriculars, weak malar stripe and white moustachial stripe. This bird had a white throat and was white below with blurry brown streaking on breast, sides and flanks.
