Observation details
After hatch-year female banded. Age was determined by lack of corrugations on the bill, and sex determined by plumage. Outermost primary (p10) was blunt and rounded, as were p9 and p8. Wing chord was 43.42mm, Tail was 27.0mm, Exposed Culmen was 20.42mm (2-3mm longer than longest RTHU). Tail feather shapes were also rounder and wider than Ruby-throats. First Observed 29 October 2025 when p7 was growing in (80%). Today p7 was 90% grown in, and p8, p9, and p10 were old and worn in what appeared to be suspended molt. Ruby-throated Hummingbirds do not molt their flight feathers on the breeding grounds; they molt these in February/March before spring migration. Fat score was 0, weight was 3.66g.
