Observation details
First seen in flight before landing on the sand cay at the Lake Borrie Outlet. Straight up I noticed that this Tern was something different compared to the other usual and infrequent Tern species. It took some digging and sourcing other opinions from more expereinced twitchers to ID this Tern. Factors such as the longer and more slender beak compared to the Australian Tern and the black cap that is separated at the beak by a white band show it to be a possible White Fronted Tern. The very average photo is heavy cropped and taken at distance. The white band between the black cap and beak is evident, but can't lend itself to a definite ID
