Observation details
I was scoping the lake and saw a small bird with bright white underwing flying toward me from the Sandy Beach area. It continued towards me and turned slightly and knew I was dealing with an alcidae type species with it's cigar type shape. As it got closer I yelled Ancient Murrelet. It then proceeded and landed 100 feet off the end of the Jetty. It had a black back, white throat, black cap, and pale bill. Robbie, Ian, and Tammy were able to get photos of the bird. The last anyone saw of the bird had it heading south, though it could have ended back on the lake somewhere. What an incredible and unreal experience. Photos.
