Observation details

This was a pretty accurate count. One at a time out loud. A high count for most locations, except SE MN I expect. Obviously with this many it wasn't perfect but the birds were strung out nicely over several hundred yards making them fairly easy to count through the scope. See photo which only is a piece of the flock. The thing that struck me most is how there were only a few other ducks noted. There were ring billed gulls mixed in the birds on the water and also there were gulls in flight in and around the flock of common mergansers.
