Observation details

Soaring low over the road, then higher in company with two red-tailed hawks. Dark, long-winged and long-tailed buteo with bright yellow cere, barred remiges, broad white band across black tail. Found by Barry Lyon. Surprisingly, this does not seem to be the same individual as that seen earlier at Julian—Santa Ysabel Preserve; that bird had damage to the primaries that we did not notice in the field and that is not apparent in my photos.
