Observation details

Continuing. Finally got this bird after more failed attempts than I care to admit (apparently early afternoon is a bad time to look for it)!! On the north side of the locks, near the fence and red box (where it has often been seen before). Mantle much darker than nearby Olympic gulls (looked darker to me through the scope than it does in the photo). Bird was also smaller than the Olympic gulls. Tips of primaries were black, legs were a yellowish/orangish color. Brownish streaks on head and neck. Yellowish bill, light-colored irises, dark smudge near the eyes. Had to settle for a digiscope photo because access to the north side of the locks was blocked by a construction project.
