Observation details

Second-ever park record, first confirmed hendersoni subspecies. Beautiful individual still in full breeding plumage, foraged at the shoal for the duration of my time there, and left when I went to leave, headed downriver towards Violette’s Lock. Vocalised several times and offered great looks, nice sewing machine-like feeding motion probing the mud. Rainy, stormy conditions likely drove this and the LESP out of the sky, and the benefit of the drought is that there’s habitat for the shorebirds. Cheers to St. Francis for this one.
