Observation details

Female/1CY initially located distantly feeding in grass amongst the channels just north of Lelant Saltings in poor light. The obvious pale spot at the base of the bill, the distinct head shape with a longer bill and sloping forehead and lack of obvious white tail sides led us to persist with the bird and eventually it came closer. Close views revealed the obvious spatulate bill shape and pale eye ring whilst flight views revealed the pale underwing and obvious blue/grey scapulars. An excellent Cornish bird and a great feeling to relocate it after a week’s absence!
