Observation details
I first heard the bird giving its snappy wit calls (warbler like call) unlike some of the other empids that give more of a duller but more pronounced wit call. Figured it was most likely a Least Flycatcher at this time. Upon seeing the bird, I noticed that the wing panel was striking and very contrasty like most of the Eastern empidonax show more often. The wing was blackish and set off by bold whitish wingbars and etched tertials. The primary’s appeared fairly short as well. The lower mandible was orangeish in color and did not appear thin. The bird at the right angles had a thin whiteish eye ring but at times it looked wider too maybe from ware.I was finally able to get several images of the bird as well.
