Observation details
The crows usually come by one or twice a day in the morning to snag peanuts, but today they were either circling overhead or on neighbouring rooftops for much of the afternoon as well. They usually pipe up and squawk when a bird of prey is nearby, but today they were quiet and observant. They also frequently chase after raptors when they come near the backyard, but again today they just observed from a distance, which makes me think (in combination with the snow squall yesterday), that they were pretty hungry. My beliefs were confirmed when I observed feathers from the dead Dove on the bill of one crow, while I observed the other picking at the carcass on the ground. I inadvertently disturbed them while this was happening and they did not return to the carcass again prior to submitting this checklist.
