Observation details
Vocal and flying all around. Seen well. Counted by ones. Completely different call than the other ptarmigans seen today. Habitat of willows around the abandoned mine. Some landed on old structures. Males very bright rufous head and neck. Black outer tail feathers. Changing into white plumage. Some a lot more than others. Closely seen on hill by rail cart exhibit.
