Observation details
Amazing find by Erik S. Juvenile/immature; dark brown seabird, with very long and slender wings, large pointy bill. Largest bird in the sky for a while (until an immature BAEA tried to take it out), much larger than surrounding gulls. Flight style unlike gulls. Was hanging with gulls in a feeding frenzy far from shore, but eventually made a close pass by the "Headlands" and Whimbrel Point. Watched it plunge into the lake a few times. Lifer! Photos.
