Observation details

See photo. As I sat down to watch for another bird because this was the area they nested in last summer, the bird observed started a chattering noise with no other sounds. At first, I thought it was because it had spotted me but within minutes it took flight and flew at male Pileated which it appeared to strike on the back and sent the Pileated racing up the trunk of the tree. The Red-headed returned to the tree it was originally perched in where I took its photo. It became silent at this point.
