Observation details
Continuing. We saw only one of the two reported here. At about 11:30, it appeared (I didn't see from where) perched at the top of one of the weed stalks about 30-40' in from the fence for a little while, then dropped down to the ground. We quickly lost sight of it in the grass and weeds. Front view while it was on the stalk: mostly yellow underside, yellowish face with small dark smudge behind eye, distinctly bordered dark brown stripes on head with light central stripe, pink bill. Thanks to Paul Labhart for helping us find it and other birds. He and Rick Grove, who arrived while we were there, probably have photos. And thanks to Dan Jehl for finding the first one Oct. 3.
