Observation details
Watched from 14.10 to 15.25. With Tony Jones for first half hour. Very confiding. From plumage looked like a 1st-w female with distinct but small, square white wing patches at base of prmaries and brown marks on side of the breast, brown rump and well-forked tail. A smart bird in fresh plumage. Feeding on seeds in the tidewrack, sometimes running, or flying very short distance., twice retreating into the Marram grass at the top of the beach. Would often crouch down when feeling threatened- e. g. when Pied Wagtails or walkers getting too close ..
