Observation details

Small heron; grey overall with lighting blue-grey flanks and lateral belly, darker grey wings (feathers with white edges give a scalloped appearance), rusty-purple tinge to central back, slatey blue-grey cap includes eye and extends down central back as a likely thin crest although not observed erected from back), central belly is white-buff with single broad rufous stripe in the centre . Legs are grey (or covered with short fuzzy feathers) and feet are orange with long claws,. Bill black and merges with yellow infront of eye. Listed as Little heron in order to get feedback, as it doesn’t fit description of herons in Africa; it’s more like a striated heron from South America. Photos from camera back until download.
