different individuals separated by location/habitat (~250 m apart) and time (~30 min); there was no transition of either bird or the Chipping Sparrow group with which each was associated from one location to another; descriptions apply to both birds with one noted exception; brown above; pale gray/brown below; short, pale gray, conical bill; dark eye with a thin, complete pale white eye-ring; tan malar stripe; pale brown face; thin, pale brown median crown stripe; brown lateral crown stripes; pale gray/brown neck collar; fine, brown streaking on the pale gray/brown throat, breast, flanks; pale brown mantle; brown wing coverts with thick dark brown mottling; first individual exhibited a smooth crown; second individual maintained a bushy, raised crown as if alarmed
