Observation details
First noticed this bird by hearing its chip note which strongly resembled the recording Paul had made of the LeConte’s. Myself and Tom Filip made efforts to locate this bird and got a brief look at it. The bird appeared somewhat flat headed and when flushed had a brief, somewhat weak flight to another nearby part of the grasses. I did not get a clear look at the front of the bird, but noticed a bit of streaking in the flanks up near the chest. I never got a clean look at its face.
