Observation details

Found by Brian Allen. Small chunky shorebird that is mostly smooth pale gray above (has not completed its molt?), and white below. The bill is shorter and heavier than that of Red-necked Phalarope, and pale at the base. Small dark face patch and black cap. Foraging on the beach, in the water, and amongst the rocks along the base of the pier. Photos to be added.
