Observation details
W/ DA. Heard a strange alarm/flight call, looked out over beach and saw a large, pale, dark winged shorebird with a blaze white rump that extended into back flying over towards Crescent Beach. Avocet? Circled back and landed on the kettle cove end of beach. Pretty unmistakable. Pale bird, dark wings with white bars, slight orange wash on breast, dainty head and upturned bill. Very jumpy, moving around the beach and out to the gull rocks, then took off to the SE around 9:00. Was acting like the personification of a lost bird. Photos
