Observation details

Continuing HY male. I was watching for him most of the day. Had been working in the yard on and off. No sightings. Then he snuck in when it was nearly dark. Likely my last yard hummingbird sighting of the year. I suspect he was hanging in in Sylvia's yard most of the day. She reported a hummingbird at 1030. I did not see him the next day though I was not up when he might have fed before migrating. We had a frost warning the night before that did not come to fruition. However I had covered my remaining outdoor plants so nectar resources beyond the feeders were significantly reduced. Smart bird to have left before our freeze. Should have had good tail winds for migration.
