Media notes
Melanistic bird.
Observation details
A few sang. One had many melanistic feathers, most obvious on its underside which was a medium gray color. Its white patches were whitish but more muted than normal. It perched on the fence and then flew to a mesquite tree where it held its wings extended slightly and fluttered them several time. It moved around in the canopy or low in the tree. Bird later perched in top of tree and vocalized with the normal Northern Mockingbird song. Overall, feathers appeared worn.
