Observation details

Javi Gonzalez from the SPI Birding and Nature Center found, identified, and quickly reported this bird on the LRGV RBA. This small owl, roughly the size of a pygmy-owl, had dark eyes, small ear tufts, whitish “V” in face running diagonally from ear tufts that met above the dark-colored bill. There was rufous feathering around both eyes and a rufous horizontal bow tie, as well as a row of rusty wing covert feathers when sitting in profile. Many photos.
