Observation details

Exact count. One flushed near the tank and another heard as a flyover farther to the southeast. Distinctive explosive, squeaky "squeet" calls. Didn't see much detail on the flushed bird, though the white outer rectrices and undulating flight style were apparent. Very poor recording attached; calls are barely audible within the first five seconds. This species is a scarce but probably expected migrant in Socorro County grasslands during the fall, though the poor coverage in this area means that observations are few and far between.
