Observation details
*High--fairly regular at this location but I have never previously seen more than 2 on a visit. I counted 21 on the boom above the Long Sault Dam and the rest in four different groups of Herring Gulls on rocky islands in the St. Lawrence River. 35 adults showing dark gray mantle (not black as in GBBG), smudgy marks around eyes and variable amounts of streaking on head and neck (some with just a few lightish streaks, others heavily streaked), and long wing extension. The rest varied younger ages including at least two crisp, first cycle birds. There could well have been more, especially younger birds, tucked into some of the more distant groups of Herring Gulls. Will add some very poor photos from the boom.
