Observation details

Recording; played a single call, and bird appeared on top of spruce to north of fields. It called back a couple times from top of a young spruce, and I managed an ok recording. Viewed through bins for 10s or so before it flew off to south over forest. Only managed to snap a picture with phone that shows no recognizable features. Chunky gray bird with black wings and distally white on secondaries. Strong bill, slightly downcurved. Very recognizable grating, raspy voice (although certainly not expected here!). Sunrise at 8:18, so light not the greatest, but no doubts about ID! Not sure it's coming back. NB Better photos posted in separate observation
