Observation details

Winter plumage adult in the company of Herring and Lesser B-B Gulls on the quayside just south of Bristol bridge. From the bulky size, a male bird. Alongside HGs looked beefier, bulkier, squarer-headed and with bigger bill, in addition to expected plumage differences. ( grey of mantle and coverts midway between L.a. argenteus and L. f. graellsii. More like L.a. argentatus but head pattern and eye colour ruled that out and lacking the bluish cast of YLG. Legs were pinkish-ochre, but looked pale yellow in some lights. Lot of local debate about this bird . First iD'd as a YLG, but LBBGx HG hybrid is more likely
