Observation details
Smaller Gull than RBGU or HERG. Hanging out near a couple HERG at the Far North end at the boat launch. Non-breeding plumage with dark half hood, short bill and white nape, darker mantle than RBGU or HERG. Noticed the bird from Fraulin Dr but had to go to the Bio Station to confirm to species between Bonaparte’s and Franklin’s. Half hood, limited black wingtips with white spots, and white band viewable on the upper wing extending from the primaries to the Secondaries and darker mantle eliminates Bonaparte’s. Photos to follow.
