Observation details
Continuing! All the gulls were resting on the shore, making it a bit challenging to locate it. A Bald Eagle flyover flushed the birds! Half of the group returned to the original pin and the other half just south of the stop sign. After 20 minutes of sifting thru the group, I located the California Gull, alongside a Herring Gull, next to the shoreline. As soon as the California Gull started moving around, I lost sight of it. Thankfully, Mike Cook arrived, relocated the gull, and graciously allowed 3 of us to get a good view of it. The California Gull is a bit larger than the Ring-billed Gull, dark eye, darker streaking on the neck and nape, yellow legs, red gony on the lower mandible w/darker spot on the red. Photo will be provided!
