Observation details
Continuing female-type. Found on 10/9 by Cédric (my hero for the month of October) Duhalde. After a tragic two hour vigil yesterday afternoon where I didn’t get a good look at this bird, I had a dream last night where the birding gods informed me that my fortitude meter was extremely low, uncharacteristically so. I decided to buck up and head back out this morning, and I was rewarded handsomely with the bird in view for almost the entire duration of my visit. It was often within 20 feet of me, just very low in the Salmonberry, gleaning insects and spiders. At one point, it started to give a chatter call series, and I was able to record the very end of it. A long desired county bird for me, and a truly beautiful Icterid, but aren’t they all??
