Observation details

Juv found yesterday by Tim Hadja and continuing here: 33.00516° N, 117.27300° W where photos taken. Not much bigger bodied and standing no taller than close-by Western Sandpipers, but buffier, arrow straight all black bill with no notable droop, black legs, and, most obviously, very long primaries extending well past tail and crossing at tips when standing. Scaly back, buffy breast, fairly step forehead giving block-headed look. It flew to spot Tim reported it where more photos taken. In flight bigger body, long wings, and buff tones v Westerns even more obvious.
