Observation details

Continuing 1st year bird, in the area since at least 28 September. Arrived in a flock of ~100 Northern Lapwing just before 11:00 in the western pond, where it rested for about 20 minutes before moving (with the flock) to the eastern pond. Distinctive and easily picked out of the large flock of Northern Lapwings by paler upperparts and broader supercilium connecting at the back of the head to form a complete 'diadem'. In flight, extensive white across secondaries and rump was instantly recognizable in the flock of otherwise darker-winged NOLA.
