Observation details
As we were returning I figured we wouldn't see one because there were a significant number of people in the river. However, shortly before we got back to the location where the in-river walk starts/ends a small dark bird flew in from behind me and landed on a rock in the river. It took me a few minutes to get closer but was able to watch it scurry around the rocks, jumping in and out of the water feeding. Never really swimming but the water was pretty shallow. It sang several times. As I was capturing a video a second bird flew in and there was a dipper standoff before the intruder was chased off. Saw a third as we were walking back. Photos. One of my favorite birds.
