Observation details
Rare sighting found late day oct 5 by John Jose and by others today. Ian Knapp found it for our group. Small goose, pink bill, small dark head and short neck. Way in the back of the pond the entire time seen on the water in the vicinity of the beaver house. It was foraging back there maybe because of the water depth/food? The body is mid-grey-brown, the head and neck a richer, darker brown, the rump and vent with extensive white, and the tail grey with a broad white tip. Edges of upper back feathers create a linear barring seen with the scope. It departed at 6p and could be seen flying towards Sodom Pond.
