Observation details
Seen on the north side of the east channel while looking directly north from the road at the concrete overflow channel. It was catching dragonflies as first noted yesterday by Hugh Ranson. Watched it from 10:30 to 10:44 AM (and it was still visible as we walked away). A stocky brown heron-like bird with mottled brown upperparts and a bold whisker stripe. The underparts were light with long, wide brown streaks running from the belly up along the neck. The legs were lime green. It often pointed its bill skyward.
