Observation details
This bird was first seen November 17, 2008 and then also the 19th through the 25th of November 2008. I originally posted it as a Philadelphia Vireo until it was determined to be a Warbling Vireo of the western group as proposed by Ken Kaufman on the 22nd. Defining characteristics were: Vireo legs and beak (ruling out Tennessee Warbler); contrasting dark crown and greenish/brown back and noticeably smaller beak (ruling out Eastern Warbling Vireo); and lastly the lack of dark lores ruling out Philadelphia Vireo. Additionally, the bird did seem a little smaller or more compact than the Eastern Warbling Vireo. My best pictures were taken on the 22nd and 23rd. Additional information on the saga of this visitor is available.
