Observation details

In amongst black headed gulls spotted by another observer. Bigger than black headed gulls, light brown chequered sides (but some black headed gulls also had this) thicker darker bill than BHGs and its legs were pale whereas BHG legs were all red - from a thick/dark/clear red through to faded red but aways red. It was thought to be a 1st winter. See the bird dead centre in the photo with the brown/white tail brown/white wing held up and its head is on its back inside its wing preening. Seen at about 100m at 25x, photo with phone through spotting scope.
