Observation details
Huge number flew in as I arrived, making a lot of noise. Saw a group of 20 or so from the path then another and another and another etc. Went into John Walton bird hide to observe the lake they flew into. I would say three were 300 to 400 of them, by counting 50 and then estimating in groups of 50. All on the water then gradually all moved onto land and were preening, then dispersed with some on land some in water. Have never seen that many here before. A white fronted goose was reportedly seen earlier. I had a long look back and forth at all the Greylags but had no luck. The photo gives a rough idea but it doesn't capture them all very well - especially not the ones on the water or further back or sitting down on the island.
