Recently learned from Ted Floyd that northward range expansion of Mississippi Kite is linked to range expansion of Plains Cicada aka Plains Harvest-Fly. iNaturalist IDs this non-specifically as a cicada, but Megatibicen dealbatus seems reasonable to me :)
