Observation details

Merlin snapped immediately to an American Three-toed Woodpecker with three separate attempts, but I am hesitant to take Merlin at face value for this and I could not get a visual on it for the life of me. Audio attached in case any of our eBird reviewers can make a positive ID on it. Single bird in the trees a couple hundred feet northeast of Lake Eleanor going to town on some dead trees.

Additional species

  • Red-breasted Nuthatch Sitta canadensis
  • Brown Creeper Certhia americana
