Observation details
Great find this morning by Eddie Monson. Life bird! Superficially chunky larger vireo similar to the red-eyed vireo I saw last year. Yellow sides, chin, and UTC. White belly and throat. Gray head with eyeline lightly through. Not dark like REVI. Photos reveal a longer upper hooked bill that is thin and long. After about 20 minutes of searching I was able to relocate the bird atop a eucalyptus near (33.7039850, -118.0031503). It eventually flew to the pepper trees on the eastern edge of the island. Working its way through some of the short eucalyptus over the swamp. As it initially entered the Peppertree it gave a 3-4 bursts of 2-3 squeaks typical of vireos. It forged silently the rest of the time it was birded. Seen by many! Thank you for all the help spotting notably Sylvia A, Lam-Son V, Tom W and others! Lovely life bird
