Observation details

Picked up on call as it circled high in the sky, before descending and landing in a dip in a field approximately 100 metres away, out of sight. On approach to gain better views, the bird took flight and headed strongly out to sea, exhibiting a distinctive rocking motion as it flew. Noted features included a rather plump, plover-like body shape and a yellowish hue to the underparts. Sound recordings of the bird in flight are attached.
