Observation details
County first! find by Fabricio Gorlieri. Juvenile bird, bi-colored bill, reddish base especially base of lower mandible light tip, yellowish legs, green back with iridescent blue when in the sun. Buffy face/neck, white underparts, prominent black eyes on plain face, flat gray forehead. It was out of sight when I arrived around 10am. Dave Nutter and I were watching-~1/2 hr. later at original pin location when he saw it appear on top of the mid-layer tangle of vegetation in full view from trail. We enjoyed a minute or two of beautiful study as the bird walked down the vegetation disappearing in the lower plants near some blue flowered Astors. Later brief sightings of the head were made by the now reconstituted group. Ken K. and Diane M. refound the bird on the east pond shoreline in the shadows. Many of us were able to get good views of the lounging bird. It eventually disappeared up the bank again. This bird is still worth chasing with patience.
