Observation details

Late afternoon sunlight, large mowed grass seed field, 13 hawks visible, several Buteo species, including Swainson's Hawk with four primary wing-tip feathers, Red-tailed Hawk, Northern Harrier, American Kestrel and a Prairie Falcon. Additional birds partially hidden by a downward fold in the sloping field. Birds, except kestrels and the Prairie Falcon, spent time on the ground, flying low to move to a new location. Using a scope, birds were backlit, generally dark shapes with pale edges. Phone skope photo included.
