Observation details
Very odd for Waterville, but regular records from the river. I was alerted to the bird by other staff, prompting me to check it out myself. Large cormorant showing pretty classic characteristics for a young bird: white throat with brown neck and breast. White belly, though, the sides of the belly looked rather smudgy. Looked pretty hot (was panting heavily) and not particularly happy, but the athletic staff said that they had seen it flying around among the other fields earlier in the day, and to me it still looked alert and didn't appear visibly injured.
