Observation details

continuing throughout the duration of my stay here (till 9:30am, so longer than usual). fortunately/unfortunately no Semipalmated Plovers to get a side-by-side comparison w/, but this bird appeared more heavy-set and bulky then a Semipalmated Plover, with brighter orange legs (I doubt this is an actual species fieldmark but helps to pick out this individual, as noted by Emmett Iverson, Zane Pickus, and others). this individual has a darker black mask and forehead region just above the white forehead stripe. it called periodically and these calls where different than any Semipalmated Plover that I've heard. Others have also noted that this bird lacks palmation between its toes, though this mark was not visible to us this morning.
