Observation details
Saw it fly in. Landed among a loose group of Killdeer on the mud flats on the east shore of the north pond. Noticed immediately this was either a BBPL or AMGP. Upon further scrutiny, this bird appeared to be a juvenile AMGP as it had crisp scaly plumage with a golden tone. Also noted a pale white eyebrow and slim bill. Unfortunately, something spooked it, but fortunately it flew over my head. I happened to be running Merlin at the time and it confirmed its call as an AMGP. I’ll attached the audio, but it is not very clean and has a few Killdeer calls.
