Observation details

Med size shorebird (between PESA and GRYE it was associated with). Med long dark tapered bill (about equal to width of head thru eye, appeared very slightly drooped). Rich dark brown upper body aspect with all feathers fringed rufous-buff (scaly looking). Face white making the eye pop out, nape and hind crown grayish, dark brown cap over eye (forehead white). Grayish wash across breast, tinged buff on sides; rest of underparts white and unmarked. Underwing white. In-flight showed a med-thin white wing stripe, and white upper tail coverts form two distinct large white patches (ovals) on sides of tail. First-cycle in juvenile (1st basic) plumage.
