Observation details
Bird reported earlier and seen by numerous birders, both Edmonton, Calgary and Cochrane based. Size that of a small - medium-sized Egret (like LIEG). All white. Legs grey-green (no yellow slippers). Dagger bill also grey-green. Prominent yellow eye. No evidence of plumes. Very actively pursuing prey in shallows. Juvenile bird. Very rare in AB, although juvenile birds are known to wander widely. Five other eBird records for AB. Only other Fall, and juvenile record is for Medicine Hat PRA (Rocky Mountain House Co.) October 2 2015 with photos.
